Supplied as part of operating system since Windows 7 is a really useful tool for problem solving. Called Problem Step Recorder it will let you record actions taken on your computer and then send those to support teams for investigation. For the XLAutomation support team it let's us see your screen as you experience issues with any of our workbooks. It saves you time in trying to capture screen shots or write long emails describing the problem and how it occurs.
Following the steps below to run Problem Step Recorder and at the end of the recording remember to send the Zip file to the XLAutomation Support Team.
Note there are different instructions provided for Windows 7 and Windows 10
Windows 7 (see below for Windows 10 steps that are slightly different)
Step 1 - Click Windows Start Icon to activate the Search Windows option
Step 2 - Search for "psr", after finding click on "psr" to open the Problem Step Recorder
Step 3 - Start the Recorder
Step 4 - Now perform the steps in the Workbook or other actions to demonstrate and repeat the issue that you are seeking assistance for
Each step that you take will be recorded and stored in a file. In most cases the recording should only be needed for a short time (< 1 min)
Step 5 - Stop the Recorder and Save Details
When you have finished recording the steps that repeat the issue you can click Stop Record, this will present a file save dialog for you to save the recording.
Step 6 - Send details to the XLAutomation Support Team (support@xlautomation.com.au)
